Van Dyke (M-53), Imlay City , 724-3301 If you have trouble taking tables or hate the taste of liquid medications, Creative Compounding can create a prescription uniquely for you. Creative Compounding is now located in Imlay City , a quarter-mile north of the M-53 and Imlay City Road interchange. The office moved from Lapeer and opened Dec. 15. Owner/registered pharmacist Jerry DuFresne said the bigger building has an updated lab that's more user friendly for employees, as well as consultation rooms and a seminar room. Additional parking and a larger reception area make it easier for clients. “It's a better environment for people who come in and see us,” he said. “It's not like walking into a drug store where you have to find your way to the counter.” Different patients have different needs. Creative Compounding can not only create individualized doses but transform pills into a liquid form and vice versa. The same applies to your pet's prescriptions. “If it's easier to take, we can put it into a liquid,” DuFresne said. “Many people try to split tablets, but you lose powder and one half is always bigger than the other.” Other medications can also be transformed into topical rather than oral dosages, such as Advil being made into a lotion for arthritis. “You can apply it to the area instead of taking it and getting an upset stomach,” he said. Creative Compounding also carries a full line of its own vitamins along with major vitamins and national brands. Regular formulas with mixtures of herbs are available for both men and women.
A registered nurse, Connie MacGregor, is now on staff to assist DuFresne's wife, Cheryl, with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Creative Compounding offers a more natural approach with hormones that are like those in your own body. It's ideal for women who want to avoid synthetics like Prozac® or Premarin®. For those with allergies, Creative Compounding can create different prescription fillers and preservative-free eye drops. Natural sweeteners and flavorings can also be added to children's medications. Stop by during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. , or check out its Web site at www.ccc-rx.com. |
